Beyond 50

Primarily these classes are aimed to reduce the effects of aging on your muscles and bones once you reach 50 plus years. The benefit to you is to greatly reduce your risk of falling and if you do, that you do not break any bones.  This is achieved by working on your balance, strength and co-ordination.

After warming up your body adequately, you will work on your cardiovascular fitness either on machines, stepping, low impact aerobic routines and boxing if you are able to.  Don’t worry, there are many conditions I have to deal with so I will always provide you with safe yet effective options.

The strength component of the class is carried out currently as a group but I also program individual strength exercises where you can work more at your own pace.

Throughout the class you will be taught correct technique and reminded often on how to maintain good posture.

There is an opportunity for you to expose yourself to Pilates floor and machine based exercises to help you with your body.

The class finishes off with lots of stretching and often there is an extra focus on one particular muscle group for more specific training.

There are so many benefits from this style of training as your body gets a little bit of everything in one hour:

  • Prevention and management of cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol
  • Prevention and management of osteoporosis
  • Management of arthritis
  • Management of stress and depression
  • Boost in metabolism to aid with fat loss
  • Improved circulation
  • Improved quality of sleep
  • Better sense of well being
  • Improved balance and posture
  • Very social
